YOUTHTRANSFORMED is an 8-day residential for young people between the age of 13 and 18 organised by TRANSFORM which is a not-for-profit organisation run solely by volunteers which empowers, encourages and trains young people and young adults.
TRANSORM is a small Christian organisation which was formed in 2006 in order to plan and deliver an annual residential as well as other events. At that time, the residential was called Youth Mission (now Youth Transformed). Youth Mission was borne in 2001 out of Rev. Dr. Kate Coleman's vision for youth empowerment within Birmingham and beyond. Kate initially began by networking with leaders from a group of local churches in Birmingham, hoping to encourage wider interdenominational and youth participation, (previously unheard of in this context). She believed that the variety of gifts and resources available within and beyond the borders of the church, when pooled together, would create a unique and powerful formula benefiting the youth, mission and society at large.
The very first Youth Mission in 2001 was led by Rev. Les Isaacs (the founder of Street Pastors). It’s aim then, as now, was empowering young people and developing a sense of civic responsibility in them through the opportunity to serve in the community. Transform was formed in 2006 and has since gone on to run annual 8-day residentials for young people as well as weekends for young adults with the aim of developing their leadership skills.
YOUTHTRANSFORMED carries the following as its MISSION STATEMENT:
'Youth Transformed seeks to inspire, train, equip and empower young people through serving together in the community, at home and abroad. It is primarily a Christian mission with Urban Vision and Urban Soul'.
